Be inspired by the peace and beauty of one of Britain’s finest medieval cathedrals, set within eight acres of lawn and surrounded by historic buildings and museums in the beautiful Cathedral Close. This spectacular building is unique in being built almost entirely in one architectural style, Early English Gothic and has Britain’s tallest spire (123m/404ft) plus numerous famous literary connections.
Enjoy the warm welcome of our volunteers on a free guided tour of the Cathedral or discover the world’s finest original Magna Carta, Europe’s oldest working clock and the stunning living water font designed by sculptor William Pye on your own.
Explore the roof spaces on a tower tour, climbing 332 steps to the base of the spire to enjoy the magnificent views across Salisbury (tickets available online in advance or on site on the day). Or just relax in our Refectory restaurant with a choice of home-made treats and a fabulous view of the spire.
Our famous boy and girl choristers sing daily services with Evensong at 5.30pm Monday to Saturday or 4.30pm on Sunday. The Cathedral also hosts a wide variety of special events throughout the year, notably art exhibitions and concerts – full details are available online at www.salisburycathedral.org.uk
